Fog

I took this picture when I was driving to my office in one of the mornings in November. We have fog in my town several times a year, well, maybe more.

Orange Tree

There are a lot of oranges on the orange tree in my backyard. I guess March/April is the orange season. I wish I had a lemon tree or a lime tree for some cocktails.

Cherries blossomed at the Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, CA. I think it is a few weeks earlier than usual.

Opus One

I drove up to Napa this Sunday. It was nice day up there. I have been to around 20 different wineries in Napa and Sonoma total before, but I didn't know about Opus One. A friend told it is really good, so I tried. I was also told me that Opus One is very popular among the Japanese. They only had two kinds for tasting, 2001 and 2003. 2003 costs $25 for tasting. 2001 costs $35. I loved both! It's too bad that they only sold the 2001 in a 1.5 litter bottle, so I got the 2003.

Persimmon picking

I went persimmon picking for the first time about a month ago. The ranch that I went to was in the Santa Cruz mountains. It was so good. We had several kinds of persimmons, but I didn't really care which one I was picking. We didn't have Fuyu, but I wasn't disappointed at all. Some of the persimmons there were astringent and had a lot of fibers. I was told we'd have to wait until it gets ripped. Otherwise, fibers will pile up in our body and someday we will have to have it removed by surgery. That'd be bad.

Yellow flowers

I was driving highway one about a week ago. There was this place with lots of yellow flowers. I don't know what they are, but it was a great sight. We can see a little bit of the ocean in this photo.

Big Slug

Maybe, this is a common size for slug here in the US and I had never seen this before either in the US or Japan. This slug is big. I should have put something right next to it, so that you could measure the slug by comparing.

Bonsai

It was surprising to see how popular Japanese culture is here in the Bay Area when I first came to the US. Now, it's just cool to see people pursuing their interests in the culture.

I saw a little exhibition of Bonsai trees at the Sakura festival in Cupertino last year. I had a little chat with the person who taught a Bonsai class in the South Bay. Some of the trees were really old like 200 years or even more. I liked this one the best in the picture.

The festival is coming up again pretty soon.

Heavy rainfalls or hail?!

It's been rainy in the past couple of weeks. We get hail sometimes. It is that cold now even in March. Today's lowest temperature is supposed to be 37F or 0C. Oh, it's so cold. A few weeks back, there was snow in my patio in the morning. I took this picture on highway 237. I can see really heavy rain or hail falling from the cloud.

Fog over the San Francisco Bay Area

Just last week, I drove up the Skyline, highway 35, and saw the Bay Area covered by fog. The sky was blue and it was sunny on the top of the mountain.
