Looks so spicy...Spicy Peppers?!

Korean restaurants usually serve several small plates with things like kimchi, little fish, dry seaweed, and so on.
A few weeks ago, I went to a Korean restaurant in Santa Clara, and got these peppers for the first time.
I was a little surprised, but I thought I should try. It wasn't spicy at all. Actually it kind of had a little sweet taste.

Green Tea Frappuccino at Starbucks

I had the green tea frappuccino at a Starbucks for the first time in the U.S.
The whipped cream was just all right, but the green tea was good.
The color of the straw matched the drink, but that is the color of Starbucks.

Nagashi Soumen Project

I did nagashi soumen. What is it? We let soumen noodles float with water down on bamboos.
Here is a nagashi soumen project page.
I had never had nagashi soumen before; let alone made one.
It was a fun project. The soumen coming down on the bamboos was delicious!

I didn't expect that much.
I got one Hakkaisan, two Kubota Manju, one Senshin, and etc. It was all good!

Beef Sandwich?! Isn't it a steak?

I had a beef sandwich at the Irish pub near my place. Most of the people who are reading my blog in English wouldn't be surprised with the size of this sandwich, but I guess people who read my blog in Japanese are probably surprised.
I had it as if it were a steak. Well, it's in the evening, so I didn't feel like having the bread part.

Taiwanese a Burito?

I have found a Taiwanese place that opens late near my place. I was very hungry one night after midnight, and stopped by the place. This looks like a burrito. I wonder the idea came from a Mexican burrito.

I saw these different kinds of sugar at some restaurant. I guess some people really care about low fat, and some other things. I guess non-porcessed sweet is the most healthy for our body.

Lee's Sandwich

Lee's Sandwich seems to be getting popular. There are two of them in my area. The size of their sandwiches is a little smaller than the submarine sandwich, but that's a good size for me. Of course, it is less expensive. I guess they're getting popular because they also sell regular American style sandwiches besides Vietnamese sandwiches. They also have some Vietnamese drinks, snacks, and deserts. I will post them here someday.

Someone got a pizza with lots of tomatoes on the top at BJ's. BJ's is a brewery restaurant in Cupertino, CA. The tomatoes seemed to have been added right before the cooking was done in oven. It is a personal size, so it's for one person.

I saw these candied apples on the streets of San Jose during the last Christmas season. They looked a little strange to me. I remember candied apples are red, but these are brownish. Are they chocolate taste or maybe caramel? I didn't try because it looked so sweet.

American Salad

I guess people who are reading this English post knows how big salads are in the US, but they may not know how small salads are in Japan.

Salad is considered to be a healthy choice, but dressing may not be healthy. If you order the salad meal at McDonnald's and use all the dressing, I heard you take more calories than having a BigMac.
Avocado is high-calorie vegetable.

Aloe + Mango + Cocnut

I know several Chinese desert places in the Peninsula, the South Bay, to the East Bay. One of my favorite places is in the Lion Plaza on Mowrey St.
This drink contains aloe, mango, and cocnut from the bottom to the top. It is very good!

This one is, I think, called Dan Lai. It is made from eggs and milk with some ginger.

Google Japan Open House

Last week, I went to the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California because they had a Google Japan Open House. They had four presentations, and lots of food and drinks! They had beer, wine, and juice for drinks. Yes, they were all free, and all you can drink. Sushi, tempura, and some other things were served.

This picture was taken after a lot of people had already taken sushi. There were a lot on this table at the beginning. Then, caters kept serving it from the kitchen.

This guy wrote Google Map Japan. Because Japanese streets don't have a name, he had to come up with another idea. I chatted with him after the presentation. He was cool.

Here is a green version.

Vietnam food

I went to Lee's Sandwich sometime ago for the first time. I like their sandwich as well as some other food that they have. Here are two items that I want to share this time.

The one on the top is made of sticky rice. When you're hungry, it must be good to fill your stomach. The one at the bottom is like Uirou from Nagoya, Japan. It is softer than that, but it tastes like that. I liked it.

It is great to be in the San Francisco Bay Area because we get to try varieties of things from different cultures.

There are watermelon, melon, cantaloupe, and a couple of others on the top. It was delicious!

They brought me a Shichrin for beef tongue!

This past Spring, I went to Los Angeles to see a car race. (Yeah, another car race) For the dinner, I searched online for a Japanese Izakaya place and found a few places with some good reviews. I went to the closest one. Oh my! The Izakaya place looked so much like Japanese Izakaya or even more. When they took an order, they shouted "Order hairimasu!"
I ordered gyutan, or BBQ beef tongue. It came out with a Shichirin!
