D1 Grand Prix in US, Part 4

The first round of the 2006 D1GP series was held at the Irwindale Speedway in California. This is part 4 of my notes from the event. If you haven't checked the previous posts, check them out! Here are the links to Part 1 , Part 2 , and Part 3 .

This is a Daijiro T-shirt. I didn't know, but I heard Daijiro is a producer of all these D1 events.

The best 16 drivers were gathering up at the start line of the course. I saw two umbrellas although it was in the shadow. Are they umbrella girls? I guess not.

While the best 16 drivers were probably lectured to show some more bad ass moves to the spectators, Daijiro and a guy from a drag race event were committing to have the drag race and a D1 show together in Las Vegas this coming summer. The car on the left is a Mazda for the drag race. Dai chan was saying it is a D & D event, but not many people seemed to have gotten it. Ken, the translator as well as an English MC, had to think for a few seconds.

Before the best 16 drivers ran for the best 8, they were once more introduced to the spectators. Here is Nomuken and his Skyline GT-R.

Here is an AE86, Corolla.

Here goes Kazama doing his rodeo drift. I wonder how he does this.

This is Imamura and his new Z33.

Kumakubo from Team Orange was driving a WRX.

To be continued...
